Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art
Applicants submit a digital portfolio, an artist statement and a list of artistic endeavors for admission. Degree requirements include art classes pertaining to art in the world, special studies in art, art history and advanced art studies. Students in this program may select double majors or many classes from other areas of interest.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art
The admission requirements for this program are the same as the BA in Art. Aspiring professional artists complete required classes including critical issues, art in the world, group junior tutorial, professional practice in art, special studies in art, advanced art studies, art electives and art history. Students are urged to experience studio classes in various media, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, digital/hybrid and video. Students interested in art for game design can complete the combined BFA in Art and Master of Interactive Technology in Digital Game Development degree program.
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Art
Admissions to this highly selective program are determined through recommendations following reviews of portfolios, artists' statements and transcripts. Successful candidates usually have BFA degrees similar to the one offered at this school. This 60-hour program includes art history classes, graduate seminars, 36 hours of graduate studio classes, electives and a qualifying exhibition with an exam. Students are critiqued during each month of studio classes. Overall progress is then evaluated at the end of each term for determination of program continuation.
Degrees at University of Dallas
Many undergraduates at this university take part in the Rome Program during the fall semester of their sophomore year. Graduate students may also earn credits and participate in the Rome Program during the summer.
Bachelor of Arts in Art
Students in the BA in Art program can concentrate in either studio art or art history. In addition to the 'common application', program applicants must submit supplemental material. After completing core classes in art history, drawing and architecture, students begin work on their chosen area of concentration. Studio art students pursue painting, ceramics, sculpture or printmaking. Art history students study architecture and visual culture, in addition to upper-level classes in art history. Senior research, thesis, final research paper and a presentation are required. Students in either concentration may also earn art teacher certification.
Master of Arts in Studio Art
This master's program includes specialization options in ceramics, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Students applying to the program must submit a statement of purpose, 2 reference letters and a portfolio. Graduate art students at this school receive full-tuition scholarships. The MA in Studio Art is appropriate for students who wish to become secondary art teachers or go on to earn the MFA in Art. The 30-credit program includes classes in modern art, contemporary art and graduate studio classes, in addition to a thesis exhibition with an oral defense.
Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art
Individuals who plan to work as professional artists or teach in colleges may wish to pursue this degree and concentrate their studies in ceramics, painting, printmaking or sculpture. Students complete 30 credits beyond those required in the MA in Studio Art for completion of this degree. Requirements include MFA seminars, graduate art history classes, graduate studio classes and an MFA exhibition class. The exhibition takes place either on or off campus and requires an oral examination. Most students complete this program in 3 semesters, in addition to 2 summers of independent study. Admission procedures for this program are the same as the MA in Art requirements.

The large faculty in this school's Studio, Media Arts and Art History Department is comprised of approximately 13 members who teach foundations, 1 specifically for the art teacher certification program, 4 in art history and multiple members instructing in various areas of studio art.
Bachelor of Arts in Art

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art

In this 133-credit program, students earn the BFA in Art degree and experience various media, in addition to earning certification to teach students in pre-kindergarten through high school. Art education classes provide training in planning/constructing art curricula, applying/teaching art curricula and using technology in art education.
Master of Fine Arts
This graduate degree program requires completion of 60 credits and takes 2-3 years for completion and students can concentrate in intermedia studio, glass, film/video or visual communication. Students complete classes in their area of concentration, supporting studio classes, art history classes and free electives. After completion of 30 credits, a mid-program review takes place and each summer an exhibition of recent work is required. For program completion, master's students take part in a thesis exhibition with an oral examination.
