Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art

Montgomery County Community College's Art Programs

In addition to its main campus in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, Montgomery County Community College has another location in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The college offers three 2-year art programs and has free art classes in knitting, beading, stained glass, drawing and photography.

Associate of Fine Arts in Fine Art

In the fine arts program, there are nine areas of concentration, including sculpture, animation, graphic design, drawing and illustration. Class credits can be transferred to a 4-year institution, or students can work after graduation to gain professional experience and build an art portfolio. Art classes include art history, color theory and graphic design history. Throughout the 2-year degree program, students learn to use colors in artwork to promote individuality and self-expression.

Associate of Applied Science in Digital Design-Multimedia

A.A.S. students might take classes in typography, two-dimensional (2-D) design and page design. Typography is an introductory class that addresses proper lettering and typing for graphic designing in print and multimedia. The 2-dimensional design class teaches design skills for presentations. The page design course helps students become familiar with the design program QuarkXPress while learning various methods for printing and online publishing.

Associate of Applied Science in Digital Design-Computer Graphics

Students wanting to develop a career in graphic design, advertising or desktop publishing might benefit from this degree program. Core classes include drawing, introductory computer graphics and digital artwork. The drawing course teaches students how to produce sketches from landscapes and still life objects. Students learn to produce images and text with software programs like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
