Undergraduate and graduate learners in the field of engineering will find courses offered in many areas of specialization.

Carnegie Mellon University

For use in various areas of engineering, students delve into topics of force, such as friction, trusses, equilibrium and engineering connections, in this 60-hour course. The lessons include text, animated walkthroughs with audio, images, moving simulations and self-checking assessment exercises. Learners will use trigonometry and algebra in this course and may find it helpful to have already completed courses in beginning physics before attempting this class.

Delft University of Technology

Presented in video format, students may view the lectures for these courses through the school website or on iTunes, and learners have the option of getting live help through online study groups. The 10 graduate-level lectures for Analog Integrated Circuit Design cover topics like DC voltage references, translinear circuits and oscillators. All readings are available for this microelectronics course in PDF format.

System Identification and Parameter Estimation is a graduate-level biomedical engineering course made up of 12 lectures. Several PDF handouts are available, but students will need to furnish the 2 required textbooks. Topics of study include the analysis of linear/non-linear model structures, optimization techniques and impulse response functions. Undergraduate aerospace engineering students learn about forced response, free vibrations and multiple-degree-of-freedom systems through 7 lectures in this Vibrations course. Learners are required to furnish the textbook that includes a software package; however, assignments and exams are available.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

All 5 of these courses are for undergraduate learners. Integrated Chemical Engineering II doesn't require a textbook, but this senior design course does rely on readings from a variety of sources. Topics include chemical plants and industry modeling tools. Users will find videos and PDF lecture notes to accompany many of the 13 topics for Introduction to Bioengineering. Learners examine bioengineering options, the scientific basis for this field and the types of research conducted by faculty members.

Links to readings and projects are available in the Introduction to Civil Engineering Design course that introduces students to engineering design, creative problem solving and the design issues of civil engineering. Learners will need to furnish drafting tools, including software for computer-aided design (CAD). The textbook for Numerical Computation for Mechanical Engineers is available for users to download, along with problem sets, but they need file decompression and MATLAB software to download additional supporting files. Students learn programming concepts and ordinary differential equations. PDF files of readings and supporting videos are available for many of the units.

University of California - Berkeley

Electrical Engineering is an undergraduate course that presents topics such as transfer functions, frequency response and power calculations. The 24 audio-visual podcasts are available through iTunes.

Utah State University

Related to the field of biological and irrigation engineering, Biochemical Engineering is an upper-level course that includes topics such as thermodynamics, kinetics and the use of biocatalysts for analysis and design. Students must furnish the textbooks and other reading materials, although lecture notes and handouts are available in PDF format for select chapters. Communication Systems I is an upper-level course connected to the area of electrical and computer engineering. Labs reliant on MATLAB software, homework assignments and the required textbook help students investigate analog communication, modulation/demodulation and digital communication.

Although it's an undergraduate civil and environmental engineering course, students need a background in statics, dynamics, calculus and other specific math applications, in order to be successful in Fluid Mechanics. Learners examine topics including fluid statistics, flow measurement and pipe friction through the required textbook, other reading materials and problems with solutions. The Uncertainty in Engineering Analysis course deals with statistics and probability in engineering. Students will benefit from backgrounds in calculus and algebra for success in this course.
