Carnegie Mellon University
For use in various areas of engineering, students delve into topics of force, such as friction, trusses, equilibrium and engineering connections, in this 60-hour course. The lessons include text, animated walkthroughs with audio, images, moving simulations and self-checking assessment exercises. Learners will use trigonometry and algebra in this course and may find it helpful to have already completed courses in beginning physics before attempting this class.

Topics include chemical plants and industry modeling tools. Users will find videos and PDF lecture notes to accompany many of the 13 topics for Introduction to Bioengineering. Learners examine bioengineering options, the scientific basis for this field and the types of research conducted by faculty members.
Links to readings and projects are available in the Introduction to Civil Engineering Design course that introduces students to engineering design, creative problem solving and the design issues of civil engineering. Learners will need to furnish drafting tools, including software for computer-aided design (CAD). Students have access to a selection of notes from 8 of the lectures in Management in Engineering, but must locate the sources for the required readings.
