Airline Management Course

This course reviews the operation and management of a commercial airline company. Students explore issues such as aircraft selection, market analysis, pricing, human resources, financing and advertising. Other topics explored are routes, passenger trends and safety requirements.

Airline Finance and Economics Course

Individuals learn about the economics involved in running an airline. This course examines financing topics, including pricing, cost and demand. Students review how government regulation, air cargo and industry standards factor into the cost of operating an airline. Also covered is the cost of insuring a carrier.

Managing Airport Operations Course

Participants review the history, advancement and operation of modern airports. This course examines major components of an airline's operations, the relationship between various airlines, and how operational issues affect the airlines and passengers. Participants discuss topics in computerized reservations systems, yield management, traffic flow policies, flight systems and personnel. Also, this course examines passenger and cargo operations, ground operations and safety practices.

Airport Administration and Planning Course

Individuals study the issues and challenges of airport planning and how those plans help the airport reach operational goals. The duties and responsibilities of the airport manager are reviewed. Students explore the Federal Air Regulation and other laws governing the administration and operation of commercial airports.

Aviation Communications Course

This course examines the communication skills employed by airline and airport managers. Focus is given on grants, correspondence, manuals, promotional material and progress reports. Individuals learn communication techniques to deal with technical presentations, conflict resolution and electronic communication.

Aviation Safety and Security Management Course

Aviation ground and flight safety practices, regulations and procedures are covered in this course. Students review factors that affect safety and security, including weather, human and mechanical issues and air traffic control. They also review the key agencies involved in enforcing aviation security. This course reviews the impact of security regulations on airports, air carriers and others. Case studies of accidents and security issues are conducted.
