Auto Upholstery Training and Class Information
Auto upholstery classes are typically offered through automotive training programs at technical schools and community colleges. Students learn the fundamentals of automobile construction and customization, along with the specific skills necessary to design, install and repair upholstery. Standalone courses in auto upholstery are also available at select schools.
Automotive technicians of all types begin their training through high school classwork by either taking very specific subjects like automotive repair and electronics or the more general curriculum of mathematics, physical sciences, English and computer science. Postsecondary education is then available through technical, associate's or other 2-year degree programs.
Students begin their technical automotive training by gaining a general overview of the automotive industry through a combination of classroom education and hands-on experiences. They are then more readily prepared to select a specific area of emphasis, including custom upholstery construction and styling.
