Top Business Programs in Banking and Finance
1. New York University in New York, NY
NYU, located in Manhattan, is a private university that was named the 32nd best national university and third-best U.S. business school for finance by U.S. News & World Report in 2010. NYU's Leonard N. Stern School of Business offers a 2-year, full-time MBA program. Students can choose up to three concentrations from 23 specialized fields, including banking, financial instruments and markets, and corporate finance. Courses in the banking specialization cover central banks and monetary policy, the global banking market and investment banking law.
2. Northwestern University in Evanston, IL
Northwestern is another well-known university with global recognition, including a 32nd place ranking among world universities by Times Higher Education in 2009. The Kellogg School of Management, located in Evanston, was seventh in U.S. News & World Report's ranking of top business schools for finance in 2010.
The business school's full time, 24.5-credit MBA program can be completed in two years. Aside from the nine credits of required courses, students choose 2-3 areas of concentration. The finance concentration offers courses in banking, such as security analysis, investment banking and derivatives. Students also can choose to participate in the business school's international exchange programs, which are offered in various countries, including Australia, Denmark, Japan and Switzerland.
