Red Rocks Community College
Students looking for a wide variety of academic options in woodworking can find several opportunities at Red Rocks Community College. The woodworking program is the second largest of its kind in the United States. The Associate of Applied Science in Fine Woodworking is the highest degree level offered at the school for woodworking. However, several professional certificates are available in specialized subjects, such as craftsman, artisan, joiner, master craftsman, cabinetmaker, wood turners, luthier fundamentals, woodworking fundamentals, furniture designer and fine woodworking.
The coursework varies on which degree or certificate a student pursues and is often divided into beginning, intermediate and advanced topics. A few core courses and specialized electives include table making, chair design, door construction and bench building, providing exposure to topics in finishing, turning, carving and polishing.
