Finding the Right Job Searching Resources for You
Job hunting can be challenging. This article discusses some online job searching resources that may help you find the type of job you're looking for.
Are you looking for a job? It seems like the job market is gradually picking up its momentum once again, so there is some hope. You probably just need to know where to look. Here is a list of job search resources to consider.
Job Search Engines
If you're unsure what type of job or company you want to work for, you probably want to begin your job search by using a job search engine. These search engines usually have you type in a type of field, company name or location when you start your search. Some of these terms seem general, but they are the basics of a job search. As you begin to search more and more, you can start using more specific terms for these fields, so you can get listings of the types of jobs you're looking for.
Many of these websites, not only allow companies to post their job postings, but also allow job seekers to post their resumes. You may want to look at their tips on resumes to help you get the maximum amount of hits. Some popular job search engines are Monster Jobs at www.monsterjobs.com and Yahoo Hot Jobs at hotjobs.yahoo.com.
Company Websites
If you know the names of the companies that you're interested in, you will probably want to go directly to their websites. By doing this, you can find out what types of openings are available.
If you know somebody who's currently employed at a company, you may want to go to him or her instead of the website. You may be more successful at scoring an interview by actually talking to somebody within the company. If you don't know anybody in the company, going to the website can help you find out some valuable information.
After you find what types of jobs are available, you may want to try directly contacting whoever is in charge of hiring for that department or for the company instead of submitting your application online. Contacting someone may be more successful than sending your resume into the 'black hole' of the Internet.
Job Search Tips
These are just a few job search resources that may help you get your job search going. Before you use any of these resources, you should begin working on your resume and then your interview skills. For more information, try Career Builder at www.careerbuilder.com.
