How to Find Jobs and Internship for College Students Through Craigslist

Search for a Job or Internship

Craigslist is a great place to search for jobs and internships. You can search for and apply for positions on Craiglist by following these five steps:

Step One: Go to Craigslist.org.

Step Two: Choose your city or state. Craigslist ads are arranged into categories for each major U.S. city and state. Job boards are also available for other countries.

Step Three: Click on jobs. You can either click on 'Jobs' to see every posting or click on specific catrgories, such as 'Accounting+Finance' or 'Technical Support.'

Step Four: Read the job ads that interest you.

Step Five: Respond to the ads that interest you. Be sure to follow all of the employer's instructions to the letter. For example, if the employer says that you should send your resume as an attachment, be sure to send your resume as an attachment. If the employer asks for a cover letter, be sure to send a cover letter.

Optional Step: If you can't find any jobs or internships that interest you, repeat steps one and two. Then, instead of clicking on 'Jobs,' click on 'Gigs.' This section is a good place to find temporary jobs and projects.

Optional Step: If don't have time to sort through all of the job ads on Craigslist, try using the Craigslist search feature after clicking on 'Jobs' or 'Gigs.'

Post Your Resume

Craigslist is also a great place to post your resume and jobs wanted ads. You can post your resume to Craigslist by following these six steps.

Step One: Go to Craigslist.org.

Step Two: Choose your city or state. Craigslist ads are arranged into categories for each major U.S. city and state.

Step Three: Click on 'Resume'.

Step Four: Click on 'post' in the top right corner.

Step Five: Click on the 'resumes/jobs wanted' category.

Step Five: Fill in all of the required fields on the Craigslist form. Be sure to use relevant keywords in the title so that employers and search engines can find your resume. If you want to remain anonymous, remove the contact information from your resume and use the anonymous email response. (The middle option.)
