Bachelor of Science in Interior Design

Through a combination of traditional courses and studio practice, students develop a historical and cultural appreciation of interior design as they explore its processes, from concept to development. The curriculum is made up of nine credits of prerequisite courses, 42 credits of core courses and nine credits of elective courses. Core courses teach students about residential and commercial design, building structures, textiles and computer-aided drafting. Elective courses examine subjects like entrepreneurship, architecture and art history. Students learn to design interiors for clients with special needs and explore career opportunities in interior design.

Graduates are qualified to take the interior design examination (IDEX), administered by the California Council for Interior Design Certification. After gaining two years of work experience, they may take the National Council for Interior Design Qualification examination.
