Movie directing is the process of turning a written script into a short or full-length film. Movie directors work with actors, makeup and costume artists, cinematographers, writers and technicians to shoot the scenes of a film. Most movie directing programs are offered through fine arts schools and programs. Coursework includes storytelling, script analysis, cinematography and history of film. Entry into the field is competitive, so industry experience and a fine arts degree are often required.
