The Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree program requires students to spend four years in the academic program studying pharmacology, immunology and human disease. 2. University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) is located at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The pediatric program was ranked second by U.S. News & World Report in 2010. Through the M.D. program at CHOP, students are exposed to neonatal care, respiratory and digestive diseases, pediatric cancers and endocrine disorders in children. UPenn also gives pre-med academic planning assistance to undergrad students who intend to go to medical school after graduation.
