Seminary Schools in the U.S.

Yale University in Haven, Connecticut

The Princeton Reviewed ranked Yale University 5th on list of best private college values in 2010 and called it one of the best northeastern universities. U.S. News and World Report ranked the school 3rd on the list of best universities nationwide in 2011. The Yale Divinity School is Christian based and is a graduate school that combines the Yale Institute of Scared Music and the Berkeley Divinity School.

Students may choose from subjects like liturgy, theology, religious history and Anglican studies. Students interested in the musical aspects of religion can focus on choral conducting, organ playing, voice, church music studies and ministerial studies. Some course topics include the foundations of Christian worship, baptism and Eucharist, the face of death and the English reformation.

St. John's University in Queens, New York

The Princeton Review called St. John's University one of the best northeast colleges in 2010. In 2011, this Roman Catholic school was ranked 143rd by U.S. News and World Report on the list of best universities nationwide. Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Theologian Studies degree programs are available.

Additionally, a Master of Divinity degree program can be completed here along with certificates in pastoral ministry or theology. The Evening Theological Education Program offers students a flexible schedule to complete theological studies at this seminary school. The areas of study available include church history, moral theology, contemporary systematic theology, liturgy, interfaith studies, scripture and pastoral theology.
