Top Five Largest Colleges and Universities in Louisiana by Student Population
In Louisiana, the top universities are all public schools. There are some notable private schools; however, such as Tulane and Grambling. For a two-year degree or to study for a career, the Louisiana Community and Technical College system has nine locations across the state. The Louisiana State University system is most known for the main campus in Baton Rouge, but it also has four other campuses across the state. 1. Louisiana State University
Louisiana State College in Baton Rouge is the largest of Louisiana's top colleges and universities. The school was founded in 1853 under the name Louisiana State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy and it was located in Pineville, Louisiana. LSU was created when Louisiana State and Agricultural & Mechanical College and Louisiana State University merged in 1877 and the college moved to Baton Rouge. Louisiana State University has more than 180 degree programs separated into nine different senior colleges and four schools. The nine senior colleges include: E.J. Ourso School of Business Administration, Manship School of Mass Communications, College of Music & Dramatic Arts, College of Engineering and the College of Basic Sciences.

2. University of Louisiana at Lafayette
