Central Texas College

Central Texas College (CTC) is a public 2-year college established in 1965 to serve 11 counties. In 2011, the school offered classes in more than 100 worldwide locations in such diverse places as correctional institutions, embassies, military bases and ships on active duty. It enrolled about 24,000 students in 2009 and offered a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1.

In its 2010 listings of the 100 schools giving the most associate degrees in all fields, Community College Week ranked Central Texas College 22nd. In 2009, the magazine ranked CTC 13th among the fastest-growing community colleges with more than 10,000 students. According to Military Times Edge, active-duty military personnel ranked CTC as the third most popular college in 2009. G.I. Managing a medical office takes organization, interpersonal communication, customer service and computer skills. Medical office managers have oversight responsibility for billing, budgeting and patient satisfaction. Those who complete the program are ready for entry-level positions in medical offices. The program requires 39 semester credit hours and includes medical-focused training in administrative support, insurance and office use of computers. Students complete specialized courses including business English and math, keyboarding, information management, administrative support, medical terminology, spreadsheets and an internship. Credits earned through the program may be eligible to transfer to a level 2 certificate, associate's degree or technical bachelor's degree program at another institution.
