Ranking of Psy.D. Programs: Top Schools with Doctor of Psychology Programs
A doctoral degree in psychology, such as a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), is generally required to become a licensed psychologist. Psy.D. programs may require 5-6 years of study and typically focus on practicing psychology rather than research, as is usually the case for Ph.D programs. Many doctoral programs require a 1-year internship during the course of study.
