Richfield, Minnesota Education and City Information

Richfield, Minnesota, a suburb of the Twin Cities, had a population of 34,439 in 2000 and is seven square miles in area composed of residential neighborhoods and shopping districts. To attend university, residents can travel to either Minneapolis (University of Minnesota) or St. Paul (University of St. Thomas).

Richfield Minnesota is located just south of downtown Minneapolis and west of St. Paul. It is a suburb of the Twin Cities with the feeling of small town life but is situated close enough to Minneapolis and St. Paul which enables residents to take advantage of city life. The population of Richfield, as estimated by the Richfield City government, is 35,000. Richfield residents live within seven square miles of neighborhoods and downtown shopping districts. The city government is easily accessible to residents and maintains excellent recreation sites, which make Richfield attractive to a variety of different people.

Richfield is located close to the main highways that access the Twin Cities making it an ideal location for businesses. At the moment, Richfield is focused on residential and commercial development. Employment opportunities range from banking and the financial oriented business to real estate and insurance. The nearby airport also employs many residents.

Richfield is home to the Minnesota School of Business, which offers a variety of training in different business related areas. With the Twin Cities just ten minutes away, Richfield residents have access to twenty schools in St. Paul and over 30 schools in Minneapolis. Surrounding towns like Plymouth and Mendota also have colleges and universities that Richfield residents can attend.

Richfield's weather is traditionally cold in the winter and mild in the summer. Summer activities include swimming and boating in the many lakes Minnesota has to offer. Winters invite residents to ice fish and ice skate and snowmobile. With the Mall of America just down the street in Minneapolis, residents who enjoy shopping can easily get their winter fix!
