Students at UH Manoa can earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting through the School of Accountancy at the Shidler College of Business. Students may pursue education tracks that lead to internal accounting or public accounting. Students pursuing the public accounting track must be prepared to meet requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). To become a CPA in Hawaii, a student must complete 150 semester hours of undergraduate education, an additional 24 semester hours in accounting and then sit for a certification exam.

Shidler is the only ACCSB-accredited school in Hawaii to offer a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program. There is also a program leading to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in accounting. MAcc candidates have the opportunity to study abroad and to participate in internships. MBA candidates must complete a consulting practicum as the final course in their program.

There is a 3/2 dual degree program at Shidler. This 5-year program consists of three years of study leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and two years leading to a MAcc. Shidler also offers a 7-month online program leading to a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting. This program provides non-accountant professionals with the necessary background in accounting fundamentals to enable them to sit for the CPA exam.

The Department of Accounting of the College of Business, Computing and Government at BYU - H offers a program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. In addition to general education courses, students are required to complete 57 credit hours of courses that include accounting, business and finance. Students also have the opportunity to minor in accounting by completing 24 credits in accounting.

Qualified juniors or seniors may be able to participate in a voluntary internship. With faculty approval, students sign an agreement to complete the 2-4 credit internship, which has set objectives. Internships must last at least six weeks. At its conclusion, students submit a written report and other forms to the Internship Coordinator, set up an interview to review results and receive academic credit.

All accounting students are encouraged to participate in the Professional Accounting Society (P.A.S.). Voluntary membership in P.A.S. provides students with opportunities to participate in forums, case competitions, field trips to CPA firms and workshops. It can also afford students the chance to network and keep up-to-date on career possibilities and developments in the field.

Degree programs at Hawaii Pacific University are offered through its College of Business Administration. Through HPU's Military Campus Programs, students associated with the U.S. Military can earn an Associate of Science in Accounting by way of online, on-base or hybrid course delivery systems. Graduates may complete requirements necessary for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a major in accounting. Internships are available in the BSBA program and may be used by students to help fulfill the program's elective course requirements. The school sponsors a student accounting club, open for admission to undergraduate and graduate students.

The College also offers a program leading to an MBA with a concentration in accounting. For students whose undergraduate degree is not in accounting, the program should take two years to complete and includes seven undergraduate preparatory CPA courses. Students who hold an undergraduate accounting or business degree can complete the program in 18 months. Working professionals can participate in the MBA program evenings and weekends on a part-time basis, online or by way of a combination hybrid method.
