College of Charleston
Located in South Carolina's capital city, the College of Charleston was founded in 1770 and first began offering classes in 1790. In 1864, the college closed due to the civil war and reopened in 1866. The 4-year, public university was ranked 11th in southern universities by U.S. News and World Report. In 2009, 11,772 students were enrolled in the college's 47 bachelor's and 19 master's degree programs. Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the college is composed of eight academic divisions, including the School of Science and Mathematics.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems

Master of Science in Computer Information Systems
This graduate degree program is administered jointly between the College of Charleston and the Citadel, South Carolina's military college. Graduate courses are offered in the late afternoon and evening to accommodate working students. Students in the M.S. in Computer and Information Sciences choose a specialization from one of three areas, including information systems. Students in the information systems specialization learn to resolve business problems with computer software. Required courses include four information systems classes, and students can choose from courses in privacy and security issues, human-computer interaction, service-oriented computing, data communications and information technology policy.
