1. University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA

The University of Southern California (USC) is a research university and one of the oldest colleges in western United States. U.S. News & World Report ranked USC #25 among the top national universities in 2014.

The Davis School of Gerontology offers numerous programs in both the social and health aspects of aging. The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Development and Aging has a social science track and a health track, both of which prepare the student for further professional education in the social services and healthcare fields. The programs leading to a Master of Science (M.S.) in Gerontology and a Master of Aging Services Management provide professional education and training for those interested in careers in business management and social services for the aging. The school also offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and several graduate level certificate programs in Gerontology.

2. California State University - Fullerton

In 2014, Cal State Fullerton was 40th in U.S. News & World Report's ranking of the top master's universities in the western region of the U.S. The school offers an M.S. in Gerontology with 30 units of coursework in topics such as aging and public policy, social and ethical issues in aging, the economics of aging and aging and dementia. Gerontology may also be studied at the undergraduate level as a minor or as an area of focus within kinesiology, sociology and human services programs at Cal State Fullerton.
