Many master's programs in taxation are geared toward accounting professionals with some work experience. These programs may offer evening and weekend classes as an alternative to a full-time course load. 1. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a public research university established in 1867. U.S. News & World Report ranked the school 39th in its 2010 list of best national universities.
The College of Business offers an executive-style Master of Science (M.S.) in Taxation program for working professionals. Applicants must have two years of work experience to enroll in this evening and weekend program. Students study such subjects as taxation of partnerships and corporations, tax policy, tax decision-making and financial statements analysis. The College of Business was fourth in U.S. News & World Report's 2010 ranking of the best graduate business schools for accounting.

2. University of Denver in Colorado
The University of Denver is a private research institution of higher learning with approximately 11,300 undergraduate and graduate students. The school was included in The Princeton Review's Best Colleges in the West list and was ranked in the fourth tier of national universities by U.S. News & World Report in 2010.
The graduate tax program at the Daniels College of Business is designed for students in both accounting and law. Candidates of both backgrounds take the same courses, which are directly based on policies of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. Upon completion of the program, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) is awarded to graduate law students, while a Master of Taxation (M.T.) is awarded to all other graduates. A dual degree program is offered jointly with the university's Sturm College of Law, in which students may earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and an LL.M. concurrently.
