Emory University, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is a top-ranked research university that was founded in 1836. Emory University's Goizueta Business School offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program and three types of Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs.
Emory University was established in 1836 by the Methodist Episcopal Church as Emory College. Today, the university has 7,231 undergraduates, 6,150 graduate and professional students, 2,868 full-time faculty members and a student-to-faculty ratio of 7:1. In 2011, U.S. News and World Report ranked Emory University as the 20th best university in the United States. The university received $535.1 million in research grants during fiscal year 2010, and it was recognized as a leader in drug discovery and vaccine development by a 2011 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Established in 1919, the Goizueta Business School at Emory University was ranked as the 23rd best graduate business school by U.S. News and World Report in 2011. The Financial Times ranked Goizueta's full-time MBA program as number 16 nationally and number 34 internationally in 2010. Goizueta Business School hosts a speaker series where leaders in business and government are invited to address students and faculty on special topics, such as business strategies and corporate culture.
Bachelor of Business Administration
Students at Emory University typically apply during their sophomore year for admission to the BBA program during their junior year. To earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, students must complete 138 course credits. In addition to required courses like business communications, strategic management, marketing and finance, business students must complete at least one concentration area like accounting, information systems, marketing or finance. Alongside one or more concentration area, called an 'area of depth', students can also focus on specific subjects like international business or real estate.
Master of Business Administration
Emory University offers three different types of MBA programs: full-time, evening and executive. Required coursework varies between MBA formats, but all three programs can include fundamental subjects like management, economics, finance, organizational behavior and business strategy. Both the full-time and evening MBA programs allow for concentration options and elective coursework in subjects like accounting, finance, marketing or information systems.
The executive MBA program is designed for individuals with managerial or executive work experience. Students in this program spend an average of 13 years in the field before enrolling. The program can be completed either as a modular option for students that live out of town or travel frequently, or as a weekend option for local students. Electives can include mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurship and real estate finance.
