1. California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo

California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) was founded as a vocational high school, which opened its doors in 1903. In 2011, U.S. News & World Report ranked the school sixth among regional universities in the West.

The School of Architecture and Environmental Design offers a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and a Master of Science in Architecture with an architectural engineering specialization.
