School Information

A program in avionics technology can teach students how to install, test, maintain and repair equipment in airplanes, helicopters and spacecraft. This equipment can include aircraft radio, navigational, missile guidance and radar systems. Certificate, diploma and degree programs in avionics are available at community colleges and universities. 2. Lewis University in Romeoville, IL

Students who complete the program also receive an airframe and powerplant certificate from Lewis University and a general class radiotelephone certificate from the Federal Communications Commission.

3. Southern Illinois University in Carbondale

Southern Illinois University is a research-based school that offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technologies with a specialization in avionics. The school also offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management that includes training in avionics technology.
