1. Stanford University in Stanford, CA
Stanford is a private university, which offers a variety of fields of study, including business, engineering, medicine and liberal arts. Stanford was ranked as number one in the 2009 U.S. News and World Report list of top-ranked psychology programs in the country, and number six on the Forbes Magazine list of the top 20 best colleges in 2010.
In addition to offering a bachelor's degree, Stanford offers a co-terminal Master of Arts (M.A.) in Psychology, which gives undergraduates the opportunity to study advanced courses in psychology for three academic quarters and complete a master's thesis.
