Bradley University is located in Peoria, Illinois and is a private educational institution. Founded in 1897 by philanthropist Lydia Moss Bradley, the university was given its name in memory of her deceased children and husband. Bradley University was ranked sixth in the category of regional universities in the Midwest in 2011 by U.S. News and World Report.
Currently, the university houses approximately 6,000 students throughout graduate and undergraduate degree programs. 2. Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts
Emerson College is a private, co-educational university that was first created in 1880. The school is internationally known for its abundance of programs focusing on the arts and communications. It was ranked among the best Northeastern colleges by Princeton Review and 14th among regional universities in the North by U.S. News and World Report in 2011.
Emerson College's Department of Marketing Communications provides its students with a bachelor's degree program in advertising and public relations. This program prepares its students for work at profit and non-profit organizations as public relations specialists. Courses in other communications areas such as entertainment marketing are available.
3. Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa
Clarke University is a Catholic college created by Mother Mary Frances Clarke in 1843. The school was originally known as a boarding school for women until it became a 4-year university for both men and women in 1979. Clarke University was ranked 162th among national liberal arts colleges in 2011 by U.S. News and World Report.
Public relations and advertising concentrations can be found under the umbrella of communications. Both topic areas are taught together alongside journalism and broadcasting. Students are taught the mass media skills necessary to excel in their respective areas of communications, as well as the ways to develop marketing and advertising campaigns.
