1. Indiana University in Bloomington

Indiana University (IU) is a statewide university system that serves nearly 99,000 students. IU - Bloomington, one of the university system's eight campuses, was ranked 31st among top public schools, according to U.S. News and World Report in 2012. IU - Bloomington's Department of Kinesiology offers a Master of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in sport management. Program courses cover an array of sport management topics, including administration, law, marketing, strategy, communication and financial analysis. The school also offers a Ph.D. in Sport Management, which prepares students to become professors or administrators in sport management.

2. University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC - Chapel Hill) opened in 1795 as the nation's first state university. Today, UNC - Chapel Hill has over 29,000 students, and was ranked 29th-best school in U.S. News and World Report's 2012 national university rankings. Through the College of Arts and Sciences, students can earn a Master of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science with a specialization in sport administration. 3. University of Oregon in Eugene

Lundquist School of Business was the nation's first business school to offer a program in sports business.
