The University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (UWM) is a public educational institution that was established in 1885. The campus is located within Milwaukee, a large city that borders the shorelines of Lake Michigan.

The UWM campus has a variety of recreational and cultural activities available to students, including an athletics facility, bowling, the Downer Woods preserve, ping-pong and art galleries. All students are provided with a free UPASS that can be used for rides on the Milwaukee County Transit System.

Academics

Admissions

UWM accepts applications for the fall semester from September 15 to July 16. For those students seeking to enroll during the spring semester, the deadline for applications is December 1. Students who wish to submit an application for scholarships are advised to apply promptly in the fall, preferably soon after September 15.

The application process can be completed online at UWM's link for freshman admissions. Official high school transcripts and test scores from either the ACT or SAT must also be sent to UWM's admissions office. Students interested in applying proficiency exam scores toward credit at UWM must have the testing centers forward their test results directly to the admissions office. UWM assesses examination scores taken for the Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) proficiency examinations to apply as potential credit.

Tuition and Financial Aid
