The University of Colorado Denver is a public school located about seven miles outside of Aurora in the large metropolitan area of Denver, Colorado. The school is one of three educational institutions in the University of Colorado System and is the largest research university in the state. It takes in more than $375 million in annual research grants and produces more graduate students than any other school in Colorado. The University of Colorado Denver offers 115 different academic degree programs spread across 13 schools and colleges, including schools of business, pharmacy and medicine.

Metropolitan State College of Denver

Metropolitan State College of Denver, also called Metro State, is another large public educational institution located just a few miles away from Aurora in Denver. The school offers undergraduate programs in the fields of education, liberal arts, business and criminal justice, among others. Metropolitan State College of Denver also offers an aviation department featuring a facility with a world indoor airport and extensive flight simulators. One of the largest community colleges near Aurora, Colorado is Front Range Community College, which is located about 12 miles away in the suburban area of Westminster.
