The Basics of Architecture
The architectural industry provides professionals with a variety of job opportunities in many different areas of expertise, such as building or landscape design. Variety of concentration is not the only advantage of working in the architectural field, however. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), www.bls.gov, architects work under comfortable conditions, often in an office setting with occasional visits to construction sites to verify work quality and accuracy. The BLS also notes that one of every five architects is self-employed, so one can choose to either work for an architectural firm, establish one of one's own or freelance, that is independently contract, from one's home.
The BLS lists a variety of educational options for students who are interested in pursuing architecture as a career. Students may earn a five-year Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture or continue with a two to four year master of architecture degree. With the many choices available, the benefits and opportunities seem endless.
