1. University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA

Founded in 1880, the University of Southern California (USC) is a private research university that serves 37,000 students annually. One of the best universities for broadcast journalism, USC was named a 2010 Best Western College by the Princeton Review. At USC's Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, students can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism or a Master of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in broadcasting. Students have the opportunity to work with on-campus television and radio shows, such as Annenberg TV News or Annenberg Radio News.

2. University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign

This public university contains 16 schools and colleges, and it houses over 30 libraries. The University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign (UIUC) was ranked the 15th best public university in the nation in 2011 by U.S. News & World Report. The faculty includes Pulitzer Prize winners and Nobel laureates, and UIUC counts Emmy Award and Peabody Award winners among its alumni.
