In 2009, Manatee Community College changed its name to the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) after receiving approval from the state to become a 4-year degree institution. The school has a full range of associate degree programs in fine arts, performing arts, health care, business, mathematics, science and social science. In addition to its associate degree programs, SCF also offers baccalaureate degrees in a variety of career-oriented fields. The college is home to the Center of Corporate & Community Development, which features adult education, children's programs, driving instruction and professional certification programs.

Argosy University-Sarasota

Located a few miles east of the Gulf of Mexico and about 12 miles south of Bradenton, the Sarasota campus of Argosy University offers 4-year degrees in a variety of fields, such as criminal justice, business administration and education. Argosy's graduate programs include psychology, counseling, education, family therapy and business. Students have the option of attending classes on campus or through a combination of on-campus and online sessions. Argosy University's Career Services department offers students assistance with job searches, resume workshops, career counseling and interview skills.

Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL

Featured in the '2010 Edition of America's Best Colleges' by U.S. News & World Report, the Ringling College of Art and Design offers bachelor's degrees in 14 areas of multimedia and design. All of the programs begin with a year of core classes in art design, history and color. After the first year, students continue studies in their selected majors, such as interior design, game design, fine arts, photography and sculpture. Ringling College has several on-campus art galleries that feature student work and the work of visiting artists. Student work is also showcased throughout the Sarasota community by local businesses, schools and public institutions.
