Undergraduate degree programs and higher education opportunities are ample for students looking to pursue a broadcasting degree in the state of California. Each of these programs is designed with a curriculum that promotes a hands-on learning experience through collaboration with campus media outlets and modern facilities for student use. Among these ten featured schools, three provide graduate level learning opportunities for students.

Within broadcasting and communications degree and certificate programs, there may be additional tracks and concentrations. Students can participate in workshops and internships, and have access to labs. In addition, students can work with on-campus newspapers, radio stations and television stations.


Chapman University

Located in Orange, Chapman University offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Television and Broadcast Journalism. Students within this program have the opportunity to contribute to the production of a weekly newscast and are provided with access to modern technologies and facilities such as a television studio and digital cinema cameras. Along with internship experience, the specialized broadcast journalism track features courses in broadcast news, multi-camera field production, mass media law and ethics, and producing the news magazine television series.

Cosumnes River College

Cosumnes River College is located in Sacramento and offers an Associate of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. San Diego-based Point Loma Nazarene University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism.
