California State University-Long Beach

Established in 1949 as Los Angles-Orange County State College and located a little over six miles from Cerritos, CA, the school became California State University-Long Beach in 1972. For the fourth consecutive year U.S. News and World Report has ranked CSULB as one of the top five public comprehensive universities in the western U. S. in its 2008 edition of America's Best Colleges Guide. In the 2007 edition of America's Best Value Colleges, The Princeton Review ranked CSULB third among all American public colleges and universities. Made up of eight colleges, including the College of Continuing and Professional Education, the university offers numerous bachelor's and master's degree programs. The university also awards a graduate certificate in 14 programs. Doctorates are awarded in educational leadership, as well as engineering and applied mathematics.

California State University-Fullerton

In 1957, California State University-Fullerton became California's 12th state college to be authorized by the state legislature. With eight colleges located at the university's 236-acre main campus and smaller satellite campus located 19 miles away in Irvine, Cal State-Fullerton offers programs awarding 55 bachelor's degrees, 50 master's degrees and one doctoral degree; the last is in education. A number of teaching and administrative credentials are also available. Only junior, senior and graduate courses are offered at the Irvine facility. U.S. News and World Report has rated Cal State-Fullerton tenth among Public Universities-Master's Institutions in the West. The magazine also rated the university's Masters in Nursing program for nurse anesthetists tenth in the United States.

Santa Ana College

Founded in 1915 as Santa Ana Junior College, the school was the second junior college established in Orange County and the fourth in the state of California. Located 13 miles from Cerritos, and now known as Santa Ana College, the school offers instruction in 300 subject areas leading to associate's degrees or vocational Certificates of Competency. In 2008, Community College Week ranked the college eighth out of the top 100 associate's-degree-producing schools in the nation for Hispanics and 18th for Asian Americans. The school serves the communities of Garden Grove, Irvine, Orange, Anaheim Hills, Santa Ana, Tustin and Villa Park. In addition to its 65-acre campus, Santa Ana College participates in the operation of off-site facilities that offer basic skills and technology proficiency training through credit and non-credit programs. Facilities include the Centennial Education Center, Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy, Regional Fire Training Academy and the Workforce Development and Career Center.
