University of Florida in Gainesville

Situated on a 2,000-acre campus in Gainesville, the University of Florida is the state's largest and the nation's fourth largest university. More than 100 undergraduate and nearly 200 graduate programs are available through 16 academic colleges, making it the most comprehensive university in Florida. Professional degree programs are offered in law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. This major research university has over 150 centers and institutes with a significant portion of research activity dedicated to health-related issues. The Milken Institute has recognized the University of Florida for the transfer of its transfer of biotechnology research; more then 50 biotechnology companies have been established from university research initiatives.

Florida State University in Tallahassee

Florida State University is a comprehensive university located in the state's capital, Tallahassee. The university's 15 academic colleges offer more than 275 undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, specialist and professional degree programs, including programs in law and medicine. The university has the highest African-American graduation rate of any U.S. college or university. The arts programs in film, dance, theatre and music have ranked among the best in the world, and the creative writing program has one of the most consistently recognized and published student bodies in the country. Other highly regarded programs at Florida State University include physics, business, psychology, meteorology and criminology.

Florida State College at Jacksonville

Formerly known as Florida Community College, the school became Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2009 to reflect its growth in student enrollment and academics. The 4-year college operates five campuses and seven centers in Jacksonville and Yulee, FL. Associate degree and certificate programs are available, as well as seven bachelor's degree programs in such fields as early childhood education, computer networking and fire science management. Its workplace development, online learning, information technology and military education programs are the state's largest. The college's artist series, which brings top-rated performances to the area, has been recognized by the state as a major cultural institution.
