University of Minnesota-Twin Cities' Continuing Education Programs

The College of Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in St. Paul offers several professional certificate and degree completion programs. Flexible class schedules and multiple course delivery options allow working adults to achieve their academic and professional goals.

Business and Management Certificate Programs

Undergraduate, graduate and professional development certificate programs are available in business and management. Examples of each include a 15-credit undergraduate certificate in applied business, a 21-credit graduate certificate in nonprofit management and a professional 70-hour certificate in business process management.

Health and Human Services Certificate Programs

Undergraduate and graduate certificate programs in health and human services comprise Dakota language teaching, aging studies and addiction studies. The 15-unit graduate certificate in housing studies provides adult students with an education in housing policy, finance and development for employment in multiple sectors.

Science and Technology Certificate Programs

Current science and technology courses are available in IT infrastructure, technical communication and transportation studies. Certificate students in technical communication can apply their credits toward a master's degree through continuing education.

Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Degree Programs

Adult students who wish to complete their undergraduate degree can take courses online and on campus day and evening in highly individualized degree programs. The inter-college program, for example, allows adult students to design interdisciplinary degrees based on their career goals.

St. Cloud State University's Continuing Education Programs

The Center of Continuing Studies at St. Cloud State University, in central Minnesota, has sites throughout Minnesota where adults take courses toward degree completion. Other course delivery options include online and interactive television formats. Minnesota students can access several types of continuing education programs through St. Cloud State University.

Off-Campus Programs

St. Cloud has partnerships with two community colleges to offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs at statewide sites with courses taught by university professors. Degree programs include community psychology and chemical dependency, special education and criminal justice studies.

Pathways Program

The Pathways program offers incarcerated adults the opportunity to earn an associate degree through general studies correspondence courses. Because inmates are ineligible for financial aid, students with financial need are encouraged to seek assistance from civic and professional groups for the tuition.

Bachelor of Elective Studies

The Bachelor of Elective Studies program provides working adults with flexible options to complete their undergraduate studies. Majors include communications disorders, foreign languages and technology studies.

Corporate Education and Outreach

Corporate Education and Outreach programs comprise a broad range of training options specific to individual professional training needs. Formal admission isn't required to enroll in these noncredit training programs, which include medical transcription, human resources management and project management.

Evening and Weekend University

Adult students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees can take evening and weekend courses on a full- or part-time basis for select programs. Evening-only students have bachelor's degree major options that include psychology, marketing and business; graduate students have several options, such as applied economics, teaching English as a Second Language and information media.
