The University of Texas at Arlington
The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is located 21.8 miles west of Dallas. It offers 80 bachelor's degree, 74 master's degree and 31 doctoral degrees programs, including architecture, business, education and health professions, engineering, liberal arts, nursing, science, social work and public affairs. UTA's engineering, nursing, business and architecture programs in particular have gained distinction. The architecture school is the only accredited school of its kind in north Texas. The engineering college is the fourth largest in the state, and the nursing program is one of the largest in the nation.

Collin County Community College District
The main campus of Collin County Community College District (CCCD) is located 16 miles north of Dallas at the western end of Plano, TX. Branch campuses are located in Allen, McKinney and Frisco, and three more are planned for Farmersville, Celina and Melissa. CCCD offers 21 marketable skills achievement award, 68 certificate and 86 associate's degree programs in 70 subject areas. The school's theater program was the 1996 national champion in collegiate drama and has been ranked among the top 50 drama programs in the U.S. according to the school's website.

Richland College
Richland College (RC) is located at the northern edge of Dallas near Richardson, TX. It offers certificate and associate's degree programs through seven divisions: engineering, business and technology; ethnic studies, social science and physical education; human and academic development; humanities, fine and performing arts; mathematics, science and health professions; teacher preparation; world languages, cultures and communications. Popular programs among students include accounting, business administration, computer systems networking and electrical engineering. RC won the 2005 Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, a first for U.S. community colleges.
