New York University (NYU)
NYU's College of Dentistry offers a variety of courses, programs and training options for students, as well as for professionals interested in continuing their education in the dental field. Master Dental Technologist Course
New York University offers the master dental technologist course of study in association with the American Society of Master Dental Technologists. Made up of 18 sessions, students have the opportunity to experience hands-on practice in lab settings. They also attend lectures covering topics such as anatomy and physiology, mouth rehabilitation, dentures and implantology. The course is designed for dental technologists who want to supplement their knowledge and skills.
Linhart Continuing Dental Education
NYU offers dental courses through Linhart Continuing Dental Education to dental professionals who wish to develop their skills in a particular clinical area. They can choose from a variety of class subjects, including full-mouth reconstruction, advanced aesthetics and implantology. The courses vary in length and may include the opportunity to work with actual patients.
Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics
The prosthodontics program gives students the opportunity to experience extensive clinical practice, which takes up approximately 55% of the 3-year program. Students also have the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate pupils. Required courses for the program include oral medicine and pathology, oral physiology and occlusion, removable partial dentures and complete dentures. Graduates can go on to clinical careers, or careers in teaching or research.
CUNY New York City College of Technology
Students must meet minimum exam scores in order to be placed into the program. A manual coordination assessment test will also be given. In order to complete the associate's degree program, students are required to complete all program requirements, with a minimum 'C' grade in certain curriculum courses.
Associate of Applied Science in Dental Laboratory Technology
The Associate of Applied Science in Dental Laboratory Technology program consists of 64 credit hours. Required courses for the degree include complete dentures, tooth morphology, fixed prosthodontics, orthodontics and restorative dental ceramics. Students can complete the program in approximately 4 semesters. Graduates can move on to bachelor's degree programs at CUNY New York City College of Technology or begin working in the dental technology field.
