The BLS projected that, between 2008 and 2018, employment would decrease by one percent for travel agents. However, the BLS projected that employment would increase by five percent for lodging managers, by 12% for marketing managers and by 16% for event planners. As of May 2010, the median annual salary for travel agents was $31,870, $45,260 for event planners and $46,880 for lodging managers. Marketing managers made a median annual salary of $112,800 as of May 2010, according to the BLS.
