From 2012-2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projected a five percent increase in the number of working vocational teachers and special education teachers in middle schools ( General middle school teacher employment was projected to increase 12% in the same decade. According to the BLS, the mean salary for middle school teachers as of May 2013 was $56,630. Also in 2013, the average salary for special education teachers was $59,540, while vocational teachers earned a mean wage of $56,830.
