Information about Avionics Repair and Maintenance
Traveling by plane is regarded to be one of the safest forms of traveling. It is, therefore, important to commercial airlines and private owners of planes and other airborne vehicles that aviation vehicles are kept to a high standard of working conditions and maintenance. Avionics repair and maintenance experts work with planes, gliders, and other flying vehicles to ensure that breakdowns do not occur and engines are kept in working order.
According to a report published in 2003 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, www.bls.gov, the average avionics repair and maintenance worker earned $21.06. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also states that the FAA requires at least 18 months of work experience for an airframe, powerplant, or avionics repairer's certificate. For a combined A and P certificate, at least 30 months of experience working with both engines and airframes is required.
