The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projected growth in every area of public health medicine employment from 2008-2018 (www.bls.gov). Employment of public health social workers is expected to grow 22%. Job opportunities for health educators are expected to increase by 18%, and the number of working health services administrators is estimated to increase by 16%.
The BLS reported the annual median wage for public health social workers as $49,200 as of May 2010. During the same time period, health educators earned $50,270 and health service administrators earned $93,670.
