Graduate Record Examinations: The GRE Defined

If you plan on applying to graduate school, you may want to consider taking the Graduate Record Examinations. Many graduate schools will ask to see GRE scores during the application process. These scores gauge your understanding of different subjects and fields of study. Though there are different forms of the test which can be taken, most tests measure general skills that have been acquired over a period of time rather than skills in specific areas. Examples of sections commonly found in Graduate Record Examinations are writing, critical thinking, and quantitative reasoning.
