The City College of New York, located in New York City, offers a certificate program in publishing through its English Department. The college also operates a writing center that runs free workshops designed to help students edit their written materials. Workshops include courses in grammar and proofreading for punctuation. Hofstra University in Hempstead offers a number of publishing and writing courses through its continuing education division. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English program has a concentration in publishing studies and literature that includes courses in book editing.
