EMT Training at Thomas Jefferson University
To enroll in this class, students must be at least 18 years old, pass a criminal background check and obtain a child abuse clearance. Prospective students must also meet the school's reading and writing standards through a placement test or proof of a college degree.
Emergency Medical Technician Training Course
Training here is provided through JeffSTAT, an EMS training program offered through Jefferson Medical College, which is a College in Jefferson University. This class is offered on a daytime schedule. Through lectures, lab practice and clinical field work, students learn and practice basic emergency treatment skills, such as patient assessment, first aid, oxygen administration and immobilization for possible fractures or spinal damage.
The first 2 days of class will prepare students by giving them the opportunity to earn their American Heart Association CPR certification. Students who successfully complete the program are qualified to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and Pennsylvania certification exams.
EMT Training at Delaware County Community College
Students entering this program must complete either a Disciplinary Action Reporting Form or a criminal background check at the beginning of the first class.
Emergency Medical Technician, Certificate of Competency
The program was designed to prepare students for entry-level work as an EMT, primarily for those who wish to work in Delaware County and Chester County. The program consists of 2 classes, one of which is a course in medical terminology. The other course teaches students event scene hazard control skills, patient assessment, emergency care for victims of medical or trauma events and stabilization of patients.
