Hagerstown Community College
The first community college in Maryland, Hagerstown Community College enrolls over 5,000 students in more than 100 certificate, associate degree and continuing education programs. Some of the more popular programs include business, nursing, liberal arts and commercial truck driving. Non-credit continuing education courses are also offered in the areas of professional development, computers and healthy living. The community college also offers the ESSENCE program, which allows local high school students to complete college courses at a discounted tuition.

Hood College in Frederick, MD
Located 25 miles to the northwest of Hagerstown, MD, Hood College offers 27 bachelor's and 14 master's degree programs, as well as five certificate programs. The school is divided into 16 departments encompassing fields of study such as music, history, economics and management, political science and biology. Hood College also offers more than 60 student clubs and organizations, including social, cultural, performance and media organizations.
