Schools and Training Programs

Training for prospective heavy equipment operators in Florida is usually offered through technical colleges. Many programs result in a certificate. Apprenticeship programs provide hands-on training experiences in various types of equipment, such as tractors and cranes. Students seeking a certificate will learn through class and hands-on instruction. In addition to operating equipment, students will also learn how to repair and maintain engines and systems. Two Florida technical schools, located in or nearby such cities as Orlando and Pensacola, and the heavy equipment training programs they offer are discussed in more detail below.
