University of South Florida in Tampa, FL

Located in Tampa Bay, the University of South Florida (USF) is organized into eight academic colleges and USF Health, which has four additional colleges and schools, patient care centers and outreach services. USF was ranked 14th in U.S. News & World Report's 2009 list of the top up and coming universities. More than 220 bachelor's, master's, doctorate and specialist degree programs are available in the areas of arts and sciences, behavioral and community sciences, business, education, engineering, marine science and the arts. Certificates, teacher certification and non-credit continuing education courses are also available. USF students have many opportunities to supplement their studies with learning experiences outside the classroom through research, internships and service programs.

Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL

Hillsborough Community College (HCC) operates five campuses, two satellite locations and a corporate training center in the Tampa Bay area. The college offers degree, certificate, technical, adult vocation and health science programs. Associate's degree programs, many of which transfer to 4-year universities, are available in a range of fields, including business administration, graphic design, hospitality, architecture, engineering, nursing and mass communications. Numerous certificate and technical programs are also available to prepare students for jobs in such fields as food and beverage management, aquaculture, broadcast production, computer programming, dietetic technician, credit union operations and office management.

D.G. Erwin Technical Center in Tampa, FL

Also located in Tampa is the D.G. Erwin Technical Center, which offers a host of full- and part-time courses that prepare students for business, health, design and industrial careers. Some of the many full-time courses available at this technical center include computer aided drafting, court reporting, culinary arts, automotive technology, building maintenance and floral design. Part-time course offerings include electrical wiring, home improvement, interior decorating, medical billing, keyboarding and architectural desktop. Students at Erwin Technical Center receive career planning services with assistance in resume writing, interviewing and job search strategies. Additional services include an AutoCAD training center and a program that offers individuals with refugee or asylum status free English language instruction, GED preparation and vocational training.
