The Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, about 80 miles from Sacramento, offers a master's degree program in Oriental medicine that covers a range of holistic healing practices from Asia. Graduates are eligible to sit for credential examinations from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and for the California Acupuncture Licensing Exam.

Master of Science in Oriental Medicine

The college's Master of Science in Oriental Medicine is a 10-trimester program with a full-time course load that is considered heavier than that of other Oriental medical schools. While this program is equivalent to five academic years, most full-time students finish in less than four years. Major areas of study are oriental medicine, Oriental herbology, acupuncture, basic science, management and ethics in professional practice and integrative clinical medicine. Students must undergo a series of didactic and practical examinations to advance to different stages of the clinical program and for graduation. There are also opportunities to study at sister colleges in Japan and China.
