Home Health Aide School Option in the Bronx
Part of the City University of New York (CUNY) family of schools, Lehman College offers a home health aide training program in the Bronx approved by the state of New York. Students learn how to work as home health aides in assisted living facilities or patients' homes. During the course, students get supervised clinical experience. Lehman College
Established in 1968, the college offers more than 100 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs. Located on a 37-acre campus, the college also has a home health aide training program.
Home Health Aide Training Program
In the home health aide training program, students learn skills that they can use to care for seniors, people with disabilities and those who are ill, among other clients. The 75-hour course includes an additional 8 hours of clinical experience under supervision. In order to enroll in the class, students need to complete CPR training for health care providers or be certified by the American Heart Association. Students also will need to pass a reading test that confirms that they have sixth grade reading skills. In addition, students must bring physical exam documents to the first session. The home health aide course has received certification from the New York State Education Department.
