Part of the City University of New York (CUNY) family of schools, Lehman College offers a home health aide/personal care aide training program in the Bronx approved by the state of New York. Home Health Aide Training Program
In the home health aide training program, students learn skills that they can use to care for seniors, people with disabilities and those who are ill, among other clients. The 75-hour course includes an additional 8 hours of clinical experience under supervision. In order to enroll in the class, students need to complete CPR training for health care providers or be certified by the American Heart Association. Students also will need to pass a reading test that confirms that they have sixth grade reading skills. In addition, students must bring physical exam documents to the first session. The home health aide course has received certification from the New York State Education Department.
